IRONTON – Ruth Elizabeth Kesterson Markin, 85, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2010, at her residence. The Lawrence County, Ohio native was born Aug. 31, 1925, the daughter of the late Earl Clifford and Mona Lea Wineka Kesterson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Abner D. Markin, who passed away December 1988.

Mrs. Markin was a graduate of Ironton High School and a 1948 graduate of Marshall University. She was a homemaker and a 50 year member and Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Ironton.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford Kesterson and Walter Kesterson.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Lynn Wiseman of Lexington, Ky.; a daughter, Jennifer Webb of Lexington, Ky.; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Cheryl Markin of Franklin, TN; sister, Ellen Kesterson of Ironton; grandchildren, Adam and Stacey Wiseman, Jenny Wiseman, Anne Webb, all of Lexington, Ky., John Webb, Mimi Webb both of Columbus, Jessica Markin, Ruth Markin and Joe Markin all of Franklin, TN, great grandson Alden Wiseman of Lexington, Ky.; and special friends Wayne and Sharon Price, Jenny, Lori, Dee Dee, and Todd, all of Ironton.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 23, 2010, at First Presbyterian Church of Ironton, with Pastor Jan Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
