A water leak in the 2100 block of South 6th and 7th streets and between Kemp Avenue and Pleasant Street has caused the city of Ironton to issue a boil water advisory.
The advisory was issued last night at about 8 p.m.
Steve Hanes, lab technician at the city’s water filtration plant, said that a two-inch line was leaking and that they are working to fix it. He also said the leak was minor and the boil advisory is precautionary and would most likely be lifted within 24 hours.
Residents in the affected areas should boil any water needed for drinking or cooking for several minutes before consumption.
