The Lawrence County Clerk of Courts will host a boat inspection 1-4 p.m. Friday at the Ironton Hills Shopping Center on State Route 93.

A representative from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources will conduct the inspections. Clerk of Courts Mike Patterson said the inspection will allow boaters to get their watercrafts in proper order closer to home. While boaters may obtain their titles in Lawrence County, until now the inspection process done elsewhere.

“This keeps them from having to take their boats to Portsmouth to have the inspection done,” Patterson said. “This will make it more convenient for people in Lawrence County.”

Boaters will need to bring their boat title, bill of sale and their driver’s license with them.

Patterson said he hopes to host the inspections on a regular basis in the future.
