KITTS HILL — Fredrick L. “Fred” Jones, 73, of Kitts Hill, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
The Waterloo native was born April 2, 1937, the son of the late Ophard Clarkston and Eileen Jones Richmond. He is survived by his wife, Janet Martin Jones, whom he married Dec. 12, 1959.
Fred was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was an operator for AK Steel-Coke Division for 36 years, retiring in 2000 and was a member of the United Commercial Travelers for more than 50 years. He was also a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Martha Wallace; a brother, Abner Clarkston; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Everett and Erma Martin.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a son, Martin Jones of Kitts Hill; a daughter and son-in-law, Malea and Tony Wilson of Kitts Hill; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Arch and Kay Richmond of Venice, Fla., Gomar and Cheryl Clarkston of Byesville, and Alben and Linda Clarkston of New Braunfel, Texas; three sisters, Gleneara Dickey of Dandridge, Tenn., Chrissie Burris of Cambridge and Jean Boggs of N. Salem; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Everett and Gina Martin of Lucasville; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Noreen and Charles Copley of South Point; three grandchildren, Tony Wilson, Chris Wilson, and Tiffany Wilson all of Kitts Hill; a stepgranddaughter Nikki Burgess of Morehead, Ky.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Lenny Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Bradshaw Cemetery.
