Kochendoerfer, Ceaser lead D-13 all-star teams to wins

GALLIPOLIS — The District 13 All-Star Games turned into a showcase for Ironton basketball.
Fighting Tigers’ senior guard Timmy Kochendoerfer scored 18 points and was named the Division III-IV team’s Most Valuable Player as they beat the Div. I-II stars 87-78.
In the girls’ game, the Lady Fighting Tigers’ senior forward/center Lorna Ceaser scored 24 points and was voted the Div. I-II team’s Most Valuable Player as they beat the Div. III-IV team 70-65.
Ceaser and teammate Brea Tackett were named to the Coaches District 13 Div. III team, but played for the Div. I-II team due to the lack of players eligible for the team.
South Point’s Tinesha Taylor also played for the Div. I-II team and scored 9 points. Coal Grove’s Chelsea Delong scored 6 points for the Div. III-IV team.
In the boys’ game, Kochendoerfer was the only local player to participate in the game that is for seniors who were first or second team All-District 13.
The Div. III-IV all-stars led 45-39 at the half and outscored the Div. I-II team 42-39 in the second half.
The girls’ 3-point shooting contest winner was Mikie Strite of Oak Hill and Zach Bobo of Alexander was the boys’ champion. Warren’s Grant Venham was the slam dunk contest winner.
