SOUTH POINT — Charles Ray Barnett, 79, of South Point, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at his residence.
The Ashland, Ky. native was born June 18, 1930, the son of the late Frank and Leota Murrey Barnett. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dianna Floyd Barnett.
He was a 1948 graduate of Ashland City Schools and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a heavy equipment operator for the City of Ashland, Ky., for 32 years and attended Sunrise Church of the Nazarene in South Point.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, James Rice and Clarence Barnett; and a sister, Imogene Dalton.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by eight sons, Randy Barnett, Tim Barnett, and Billy Salyers all of South Point, Kevin Barnett of Chesapeake, Johnny Salyers of Salt Rock, W. Va., Danny Salyers of Ironton, Charlie Barnett of Proctorville, and Stevie Barnett of Texas; three daughters, Evonda Hunt of Chesapeake, Rhonda Curnell of Ironton, and Marlene Elliott of Grayson, Ky.; 25 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, with Pastor Denver Prater officiating. Burial will follow in Dixon Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
