Elizabeth V. Brown, 83, of Ironton, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at SOMC in Portsmouth.
The Lawrence County native was born April 10, 1926, the daughter of the late Charles and Pearl Sanders Markel. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Brown, who died May 10, 1985.
Mrs. Brown attended Ironton City Schools, was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, John Brown Jr.; and a daughter, Shirley Summers.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Melissa Brown of Beckley, W. Va., Timothy and Frances Brown of South Point and Jack and Andrea Brown of Columbus; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Barbara Markel of Spring Valley, Calif.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Orrick officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrence Furnace Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
