Fire levies get voter approval

More than 80 percent of the Lawrence Township voters who went to the polls Tuesday agreed to continue the township’s fire levy for five more years. When all the votes were counted, all three fire levies on the ballot won voter approval with comfortable margins. The final tally for Lawrence Township was 492 in favor of and 119 against.
In Chesapeake, 161 voters supported the fire levy there; only 61 voters rejected it. Upper Township voters agreed to continue their fire levy to, with a 373-200 vote count. All three levies were continuations of levies in place now. All three provide income to volunteer fire departments.
