IRONTON – A boil advisory has been issued by the city of Ironton for residents in the Ironton Hills and Zenith Heights subdivisions of the city following a water main break on Ora Ritchey Road.

The boil advisory affects any Ironton City Water customers located off of State Route 141.

Mark White, city water superintendent, said the boil advisory was mandated after a water main split around 1:15 p.m. White said he did not know the exact cause of the break, but said the line was old.

The boil advisory is in effect until noon on Saturday. Residents in the affected areas should boil any water needed for drinking or cooking for several minutes before consumption.

White said the line has been repaired and that service should have been restored to all residents.
