Community Hospice has scheduled a new Volunteer Orientation course. The sessions will be Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday October 19 – 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Community Hospice office located at 2122 S. 9th St., Ironton.

Volunteers are needed for a variety of duties that include: in-home respite care, caregiver time out, emotional support and visitation, nursing home and Care Center visits, companionship and reading, running errands, delivery drivers, computer data entry and office clerical work, and handyman services. Volunteers determine when and how often they are available to assist – a few hours a week or just occasionally. All volunteers must complete the required training to be certified.

Community Hospice currently has 185 active volunteers in their nine county service area – Lawrence and Scioto counties, Ohio along with Boyd, Greenup, Carter, Lawrence, Elliott, Martin and Johnson counties in Kentucky. If you are interested in becoming a Hospice volunteer or to reserve your space, contact LuAnn Vance, Volunteer Coordinator, at 740-532-8841, 606-329-1890 or 1-800-926-6184, or via email at lvance@chospice.org.
