Ironton XC runs well at Jackson

JACKSON — The Ironton Fighting Tigers’ cross country team had a one-two punch.
Taylor Hacker had the “one” as she finished first individually in the girls’ race and the boys’ team was second overall at the Jackson Invitational last Thursday.
Hacker ran a 21:04.4 time to win her third straight race. Also running for Ironton were Ariel Schweickart who was ninth at 23:11.9, Kaylie Strugill 34th at 26:18.2 and Hannah Cronacher 38th with a 27:01.5 time.
The boys’ combined effort left them second behind Athens in the 14-team field. Athens had 36 points followed by Ironton with 49 and Logan had 95.
Dustin Moritz led the Fighting Tigers with a sixth place finish invidivually as he ran the course in an 18:29.4 time.
Ironton’s next three runners finished ninth, 10th and 11th, respectively as Levi Runyon had an 18:49.4 time, Adam Stumbo an 18:49.5 clocking and Gary Monroe 18:55.5.
Pierce Reeves ran a 19:16.9 to place 19th as Ironton’s fifth runner.
Four other Ironton runners competed with Tyler Lawless No. 83 at 23:31.9, Nick Bishop No. 90 at 24:37.0, Bobby Sizemore No. 94 at 25:21.0 and Sean Lawless No. 95 at 25:50.5.
