COAL GROVE — The South Point Junior Pointers downed the Coal Grove Junior Hornets 42-14 in an Ohio Valley Conference Middle School game on Sept. 17.

The Pointers win ended the Hornets 10-game winning streak and handed them their first home loss since 2007.

Coal Grove stuck first but the Pointers came back to tie the game. With 2:30 left in the half, South Point scored to take a 22-14 halftime lead.

The Pointers took control in the second half and outscored the Hornets 20-0.

Coal Grove played River Valley on Thursday and South Point faced Fairland.
