YELLOW SPRINGS — John Lawrence Dillon Jr., 81, of Yellow Springs, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at his residence.
John had worked as a machinist at Adam Wholesalers and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. He attended and was active in Rona Community Missionary Church and the Green County Korean War Association.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John Lawrence Dillon Sr. and Nellie (Malone) Dillon; a brother, Harold Dillon; sister-in-law, Stella Dillon; and brother-in-law, Ralph Riley.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bernice (Saunders) Dillon; daughter, Cheryl (Randy) Person of Xenia; son, John P. (Janice) Dillon Sr. of Fairborn; sister, Helen Riley of Enon; brother, Kenneth Dillon of Yellow Springs; grandchildren, John P. Dillon Jr., Matthew Dillon, Elizabeth (Bobby) Hunsaker, Benjamin Person and Krysta Skarda and Brian Person; special friends, Wayne and Connie Corbean and Teresa Lewis.
Funeral service at noon Saturday at Burcham Funeral Home, 119 East Main Street in Fairborn with Pastor Kenneth Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Byron Cemetery in Fairborn. Visitation will be 10 a.m.-time of service at the funeral home.
