CHARLES MORITZ

Charles W. Moritz, 70, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Aug.10, 2009, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W. Va.
The Portsmouth native was born Jan. 7, 1939, the son of the late Carl A. and Hazel Martin Moritz. He is survived by his wife, Rosetta Ackison Moritz, whom he married May 23, 1963.
Mr. Moritz was a graduate of Ironton High School and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He retired in 1994 after 30 years of service from Armco Steel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Cooke.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Charla and Terry Reedy of Equatorial Guinea, West Africa; a son, John Moritz of Ironton; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Jeff Linn of Ironton; a daughter and son-in-law: Lynn and Doug Hopper of Ironton; a son, David Moritz of Ironton; 10 grandchildren, Bryce Reedy, Alexis Walker, Sydnie Moritz, Madison Moritz, MaKenzie Moritz, Greg Linn, Sarah Beth Linn, Christopher Cooke, Kayla Elkin and Kayla Damron Moritz; a great grandson, Tyler Walker; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Catherine Moritz of Tequesta, Fla., and David and Mary Ann Moritz of Arden, N. C., and a special aunt: Eileen McGlone of South Point.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home, with Minister James Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 8850. Pallbearers will be Bryce Reedy, Terry Reedy, Seth Walker, Jeff Linn, Greg Linn, Doug Hopper, Christopher Cooke, and Bill Bob Ackison.
