FREDA TURVEY

ASHLAND, KY. — Ms. Freda M. Turvey, 65, of Ironton passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Community Hospice, Ashland, Ky. after a brief illness. She was born on April 8, 1944, in Lawrence County, the daughter of the late Herman and Georgia McKnight Turvey. She was a retired chief deputy for the Lawrence County Clerk of Courts Title Division and a member of the B.P.O.E. No. 177 of Ironton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Turvey, Jr. and two sisters; Miriam Lynn Turvey and Betty Turvey Cooke.
She is survived by her life companion and special friend to her family, Emmett Moore of Ironton, one sister, Barbara “Bobbie” Turvey of Ironton, four nieces; Beverly Cooke Collins of Erlanger, Ky., Kathy Cooke Smith and ReRe Cooke Tipton, both of South Point and Carolyn Cooke Shepherd of Willowwood, Ohio and a nephew, Ricky Cooke of Erlanger, Ky. Also surviving is her special black poodle dog, JoJo II.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 11, 2009, at the Tracy Brammer Funeral Home, Ironton, Ohio, with Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Internment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Sunday evening. Memorials are requested to Community Hospice, 1501 Central Ave., Ashland, KY, 41101.
