IRONTON — A fire Saturday morning gutted a house at 613 Adams Street in Ironton.

Ironton Fire Department Lt. Jack Delong said firefighters were called to the residence at 6:59 a.m. Two people living at the residence managed to safely escape the blaze.

While the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, authorities believe the fire started in the kitchen.

Eight firefighters with two engines were on the scene until 8:30 a.m.
