Fighting Tigers tennis beats Rams

RACELAND, Ky. — Eight was enough.
Using an 8-game pro set, the Ironton Fighting Tigers tennis team beat the Raceland Rams Wednesday 6-3.
Ironton won four of the six singles matches including Andrew Hicks over Chase Waddell 8-6, Heath Friend over Zach Nickles 6-2, Aaron Christian over Austin Woods 8-4 and Kenny Jenkins downed Ethan Holbrook 8-1.
Ironton’s No. 2 singles player Steven Sinnott lost in a tough match to Steven Short 4-8, and No. 3 man Pat Parnell fell to Bronson Bush by an identical score.
In doubles play, Hicks and Sinnott teamed up to beat Waddle and Short 8-5 and the No. 3 team of Schylar Fields and Aaron Pettiford topped Lemaster and Woods 8-3.
Ironton’s No. 2 team of Michael Kennedy and Brice Roach lost a 4-8 battle to Nickles and Bush.
In an exhibition match, Parnell and Friend blitzed Ryan Short and Luke Porter 8-0.
