AID — Now that’s teamwork.
J.J. Huff and Tyler Easthom combined on a one-hitter as the Symmes Valley Vikings blanked the Western Indians 11-0 in five innings Monday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
Huff went four innings striking out six, walking one and allowing only a single. Easthom struck out one in his inning of work.
“Huff threw well and Easthom came on and threw a good inning. I was pleased with our pitching and hitting,” said Vikings’ coach Chad Renfroe.
The Vikings got three runs in the first inning.
Easthom walked, stole second and Robbie Powell had an RBI single. Powell moved up on the throw home and scored when Cody Bland singled. After Bland stole second, Hatfield had an RBI single.
A run scored in the second when Huff was hit by a pitch, Cody Myers reached on a fielder’s choice, and Easthom double.
The Vikings erupted for six runs in the third inning to lead 10-0.
Three walks, a hit batsman, a two-run triple by Luke Taylor, Easthom and Powell had RBI singles, and Myers hit a sacrifice fly.
The final run scored in the fourth inning when Hatfield hit a solo home run.
