The Rev. Russell Locey
PROCTORVILLE — On April 11, 2009, the Lord called Rev. Russell F. Locey home to his heavenly reward. He passed away at the V.A. Medical Center Huntington, W.Va. He was son of the late Gerard Sr. and Minnie Wall Locey.
Russell leaves behind his wife Lucille Shafer Locey of 67 years, 21 days; son Carl (Janice) Locey; daughter Judy Milton; five grandsons, Mark A. (Cindy) Locey, James Russell (Kristy) Locey, Matthew (Kristin) Downs, Craig and Michael Milton; three great grandsons, Benjamin, Jack, and Ryan Locey, and one great granddaughter, Ella Locey.
Also surviving are two sisters, Paulene Murdock and Audrey Dunfee; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Russell retired from Allied Chemical, South Point. He was a three-year World War II veteran, having participated in the Pacific Theater where he was awarded several ribbons and honors. He was a member of Windsor Independent Methodist Church. During his lifetime, he pastored several local Methodist Churches which include Dillon Chapel, Crown City, Miller, Waterloo, Mt. Zion, Olive and Rehobeth. Russell was one of the last “Circuit Riders” of the Methodist Church Conference. Russell was a member of the Waterloo Masonic Lodge # 532 F & AM, and the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter #447. He was also a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, Valley of Cincinnati.
Pastor Jack Rankin and Rev. Leo Edwards will be officiating at the funeral service which will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday April 15, 2009 at Hall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Perkins Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home with a Masonic service to be held at 7 p.m. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.
