BEAVER — There was a new sound that was very pleasing to the ears of Green coach Dale Royse: the Lady Bobcats’ bats.
Green’s bats came to life in a 7-2 Southern Ohio Conference win over the Eastern Lady Eagles on Monday.
“We hit the ball better than we have for quite a while,” said Royse. “And Ali pitched well. Eastern has a good team. That was a good win for us.”
Thompson struck out 13, walked two and allowed just three hits.
Green jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning.
Abbey Barrett singled and stole second base. Tiffany Stoneking reached on a fielder’s choice as a run scored. Destiny Skaggs was safe on a fielder’s choice and Adrianne Blankenship reached on an error to score two runs.
The lead went to 5-0 in the fourth inning when Thompson singled and Abbey Barrett crashed a two-run homer.
Eastern got a run back in the bottom of the inning, but Green scored two more in the top of the sixth.
Cassidy Skaggs and Barrett singled and Stoneking had a two-run double.
Green (5-1, 4-0) hosts Lucasville Valley on Tuesday.
