RUBIN TAYLOR, SR.

Rubin Taylor Sr., 89, of Ironton, died Sunday, March 22, 2009, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
He was born Oct. 19, 1919, in Cadiz, Ky., a son of the late Enos and Anna Belle Bacon Taylor. He was retired as a grinder from Dayton Malleable Iron Co. and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dora Mattie Thomas Taylor; his second wife, Edithe Bass Seward Taylor; a son, Edward Lewis Taylor; three sisters; four brothers; two stepsons, Howard Seward and Mark Seward and a stepdaughter, Carolyn Seward Bacon.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Garnes Ragland Preston Taylor; a daughter and son-in-law, Dorsey and Deotis Conwell, of Ironton; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Reuben Jr., and Wilma Bacon Taylor, of Ironton, Jason Phillip and Susan Taylor, of Ironton and Judy Seward; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren and several great great great grandchildren; a sister, Frances Taylor Bacon, of Indianapolis, Ind.; a brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Emma Taylor, of Chicago, Ill.; three stepsons, John (Carol) Seward, of Ironton, Ellison Jr., (Susan ) Ragland, of Gallipolis, Donald (Linda) Ragland of Columbus and two stepdaughters, Portia Ragland of New Lexington and Janie Preston of Lancaster.
Funeral was 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. David R. Peoples officiating. Burial followed in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation was 6-9 p.m. Friday at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made in his memory to Mt. Olive Baptist Church, P.O.
