REV. CARL SIZEMORE

PEDRO — The Rev. Carl R. Sizemore, 91, of Pedro, died Friday, March 20, 2009, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
The Lawrence County native was born July 17, 1917, the son of the late Jesse C. and Hattie Delawder Sizemore. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Mae Sharp Sizemore, who passed away June 14, 1994.
He attended Pedro schools, was a U.S. Army WWII veteran and was a coal miner for more than 40 years with Collins Mining Company. He was a member of Symmes Valley Freewill Baptist Church in Aid.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Sizemore; two brothers, Elmer Sizemore and Vernon Wood Sizemore and three sisters, Myrtle Sizemore, Selma Perry, and Ethel Kidd.
He is survived by six daughters and five sons-in-law, Barbara and Steve McFann, June Sanders, Dottie and Keith Markel, Harlene and Jerry Rogers, all of Pedro, Candy Phillips of Ironton, and Penny and Roger Russ of South Webster; three sons and daughters-in-law, Carl R. “Hoot” Jr. and Brenda Sizemore of Ironton, Jesse and Carolyn Sizemore and Mark and Lisa Sizemore all of Pedro; 28 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Stella Jiles of Pedro and Wanda Blagg of Minster.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Revs. Kenny Jiles and Danny Boggs officiating. Burial will follow in Puckett Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 8850. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
