RAYMOND — Myrtle Sparks Culver, 89, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at the home of her daughter near Raymond, Ohio. She was born March 20, 1919, in Greenup County, Ky., to the late Tillman and Polly (Carpenter) Sparks.
On June 17, 1938, in Wheeling, W.Va., she married Walter E. Culver and he died Sept. 7, 1983, also predeceased by brothers and sisters, Eva Blankenship, Ida Carpenter, Rhoda Carpenter, Jeanette “Netsie” Ison, Alberta Horton, Challie Carpenter, Ben Sparks and Herbert Sparks. 
Myrtle was a homemaker and attended the Christ the Rock Church near Richwood. She was a loving, caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. 
Surviving are her five loving and devoted children, Sue (Ronnie) Wilds of Raymond, Walter E. “Sonny” (Vivian) Culver of Marion, Mary (Bud) Barnette of Whispering Pines, N.C., Joyce Ann Baublys of Marysville and Bill (Pauline) Culver of Plain City; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister in law, Clara Williams of Wheeling, W. Va.; and several nieces and nephews. 
Memorial services will be held Saturday Feb. 7, at noon at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Pastors Dale Baker and Russell Howard will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in the Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point.
