IRONTON — The Orpheus Saxophone Quartet will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday in Ohio University Southern’s Riffe Center Mains Rotunda.
The Orpheus Saxophone Quartet is a student performing ensemble consisting of junior music majors at Morehead State University.
All are students of MSU saxophone professor Dr. Nathan Nabb, who also oversees the quartet. Members include Sara Sipes, Will Fergason Collin Stegeman, and David Houston.
The group strives to play both standard and contemporary pieces
written specifically for sax quartet that constantly challenges the technical and musical boundaries of each individual musician.
Recent performances include the Kentucky Music Teachers’ National Association competition, the North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA) National and
Region 7 Conference, and numerous on-campus performances.
The quarter is expected to perform at the 15th World Saxophone Congress in Bangkok, this summer.
The concert at OUS is free and open to the public.
