SHERIDAN — Glen and Beth Fitzpatrick were relaxing at home Saturday night around 9 p.m. when they heard someone pounding on their front door.
“It was our neighbor and she was saying, ‘Help, my house is on fire,” Glen said.
The Fitzpatricks, who live at 82 Township Road 1316 in the Allied Heights subdivision of Sheridan, called 911 and went to help the woman who lived across the street with her three daughters and one of their boyfriends.
“Tammy went in for her dogs,” Glen said. “So I went in after her. It was dark. Smoky. Lights were on but so smoky,” he said. “I saw two dogs in back so went and got them.”
After going back in the house to make sure everyone was out, Glen said he started to go upstairs but quickly changed his mind.
“I heard two big explosions. I got out,” he said. “Fire was coming out the windows.”
The Fitzpatricks said all the people and animals got out of the house safely.
Firefighters from South Point, Coal Grove, Perry Township, Fayette Township and others responded to the call. They were still on the scene as of 10 p.m.
No additional information was immediately available.
