Accused shooter appears in court

The Ironton area man accused in connection with the shooting of a neighbor late Wednesday night was arraigned Thursday in Ironton Municipal Court.

Floyd McCann, 50, of 38 Township Road 203 W. Ironton, went before Judge O. Clark Collins, who set bond at $100,000 and assigned Warren Morford to be McCann’s court appointed attorney.

McCann must return to court Jan. 15 for a preliminary hearing.

McCann is charged with felonious assault and having a weapon while under disability, because he is a convicted felon.

McCann is accused of shooting Mark Robinson, 39, of 750 State Route 650, Ironton. Robinson was struck once in the upper back with a .22 rifle as he walked along the roadway in front of his residence. Robinson told authorities he had heard a noise outside his house and went to see what it was when the incident occurred. He remains in critical condition at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.

Authorities believe the shooting was reckless.

McCann remains in the Lawrence County Jail.
