HECLA — Grace A. Bentley, 85, of Hecla, passed away at her residence. God called our Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother, home to be with him Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008. The greatest thing anyone can say about another is “she loved”. Her greatest love was her Lord and Savior. Grace truly loved and was loved. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was born May 29, 1923, in Lawrence County, the daughter of the late Homer and Gaynelle Melinda McKee Remy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years, Paul E. Bentley, whom she married March 8, 1941; five brothers, Garland, Paul, Ancil, Arthur and Sanford Remy; a sister, Joann Burcham and a granddaughter, Teresa Lawless.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She attended Coal Grove schools and lived here all of her life. She also was a member of the Ladies Bible Class at the church.
She is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Janice and David Lawless of Westerville, and Doris and Don Ward of Flatwoods, Ky.; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul G. and Janice Bentley of Ironton; a sister, Norma Clement of Kitts Hill; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Nellie Remy of Ironton; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Long and Pastor Chris Kenner officiating.
