Jesse D. (Jake) Hogsten, 59, of Ironton, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Huntington, W. Va. The Lawrence County native was born Aug. 2, 1949, the son of the late Elmer and Nola McDaniels Hogsten. He is survived by his wife, Mary L. Thomas Hogsten, whom he married April 16, 1974.
Jake was a 1968 graduate of Rock Hill High School and was a U.S. Marine Corp. veteran. He was a self-employed truck driver and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Tom Hogsten, Ernie Hogsten and an infant brother; and a sister, Alma Boles.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Stacey Boles of Worthington, Ky.; a brother: Andy (Mick) Hogsten of Ironton; and a sister, Wanda Lee (Pee Wee) Hoffman of Ironton.
Graveside services will be 1p.m. Monday in Woodland Cemetery with Rev. James Cremeans officiating. There will be no public visitation. Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
