Ellen Louise Kimbler, 88, of Ironton, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, from Bryant Health Center in Ironton.
Ellen was born Dec.1, 1920 in Ironton, a daughter of the late Simon E. and Lennie Carey Kimbler.
She was a graduate of Ironton High School and a violinist in the Ironton High School Orchestra. Ellen was a supervisor with Ohio Bell and later retired as a switchboard operator and secretary with A&I Supply of Charleston, W.Va. While working with A&I Supply, she received the distinct honor of being personally chosen by John F. Kennedy to serve as his private telephone operator during his presidential campaign in Charleston in 1960.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Clifford Jack Kimbler; two sisters, Geraldine Gaye Smith and Willa Mae Farmer; one niece; one nephew; and one great nephew.
Ellen is survived by one sister, Janice Kimbler Amos; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a private family visitation. Private burial will follow in Rome Cemeter. Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home, Chesapeake, is in charge of arrangements.
