Wanda Gayle (DePriest) Collins, 65, passed away at her home Sunday morning, Dec.7, 2008.
She was born April 17, 1943, the daughter of the late Floyd and Nora DePriest. She is survived by her husband, Gordon Collins, whom she married Jan. 28, 1961, with the late Calvin Evans officiating.
She attended Rock Hill High School and worked most of her life at Wilson’s Sporting Goods in Ironton. She was of the Baptist faith. She loved mushroom hunting, fishing and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nadine (Suze) Rogers and a brother, Floyd (Butch) DePriest.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Frank van Arsdale of Pickerington; a daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Dale LaRue, of Belton, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Gordy and Johnda Collins, of South Webster; a son, Tommy Lee DePriest, of Belton, Texas; eight grandchildren whom she adored, Josh Guy, of Kitts Hill, Jarred and Austin Collins, of South Webster, Matthew and Danielle van Arsdale of Pickerington, Jeffrey Pickett, and Marcus and Mary DePriest of Belton, Texas; two great grandchildren, Mia and Tatum Pickett, of Belton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ida/Nan and Doug Dean of Pedro, Patsy and Ralph Middleton of Logan; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Lowell and Noel DePriest of Pedro, Robert and Wilma DePriest, of Peebles, and Roy and Doris DePriest, of Columbus; one brother-in-law, Harold/Brownie Rogers, of Columbus; and one sister-in-law, Diana/Kay DePriest, of Sunbury. She also had several nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Buckhorn Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Steve DePriest, Tony Timmon, Todd Robinson, Frank van Arsdale, Linnie Potochnik, and Keith Collins.
