Niehaus holds onto Ohio Senate seat

Ohio State Sen. Tom Niehaus will keep his seat at the statehouse.
According to unofficial results from the Ohio Secretary of State’s office, the Republican Niehaus garnered 93,864 votes district wide, or 62.23 percent of all ballots cast. His closet opponent, Gregory Napolitano, got 48,419 votes, or 32.1 percent of the ballots cast. Libertarian candidate M. Ann Leech got 8,550 votes.
In Lawrence County, the vote spread was much closer than it was district wide. Locally, Niehaus collected 5,910 votes to Napolitano got 5,769 votes. Leech collected 706 votes.
During his campaign, Niehaus, 57, of New Richmond, touted his record of service while in Columbus and said he plans to continue work to improve education, build the state’s economy and make health care more affordable for Ohio residents.
