HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The following is a statement from Marshall University Director of Athletics Bob Marcum regarding the injury sustained by University of Houston receiver Patrick Edwards during the UH at Marshall football game Tuesday night.
“We are sorry the accident took place and wish Patrick a quick and full recovery,” Marcum said. “Coach Snyder and two of our student-athletes visited with Patrick today at a local hospital to show our support for him.”
Coach Mark Snyder and Marshall senior C.J. Spillman and junior Albert McClellan visited Edwards Wednesday afternoon.
“We visited with Patrick today and he was in good spirits,” Snyder said. “We wanted him to know that he is part of our extended football family and that we are here to help him in any way we can.”
Marcum addressed the location of the carts by adding, “They have been in that location for two years without incident. However, due to this accident, the carts will be relocated at future home games.”
