EYSTONE HEIGHTS, Fla. — Steve Maynard, 45, of Keystone, passed away Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 16, 1963, in Cabell County W.Va., a son of Jewell P. Otta of South Point and the late Kenneth Maynard of Jacksonville, Fla. He grew up in Coal Grove and attended Deering Elementary School and Coal Grove junior and senior high schools. He also attended several local churches including Zoar Baptist, Ice Creek Baptist and Community Baptist. He served in the U.S. Army, then moved to Florida and was ordained a minister. In the mid 1980s and had since served the Florida United Methodist Children’s Services.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Maynard, who passed away in 2006.
He is survived by a son, Kenneth Blaine Maynard; a daughter, Kimberly Ann Maynard and a grandson, Zaelin Lee Maynard, all of Claremont, N.C.; his mother, Jewell P. Otta, of South Point; and seven siblings, Ann Clayton, of Huntington, W.Va., Darline Woody of Anniston, Ala., Karen Stevens of Charlotte, N.C., Vicky Jones of Fairfax, Va., Gene Otta II, of South Point,Nancy Warden of Concord, N.C., and James Otta of Louisville, Ky.
Services were conducted in Jacksonville, Fla. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
