Vencil E. Willis, 80, of Ironton, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
He was born Feb. 15, 1928, the son of the late Odell and Eva Hart Willis. He was the widower of the lare Frances Hopkins Willis, whom he married June 29, 1963.
He was a graduate of Ironton High School and a Korean War U.S. Army veteran. He retired from the Allied Sigal Tar Plant in 1993 after 44 years of service. He was of the Protestant faith and was a member of Central Christian Church. He was a mason, a member of eastern Star, KYOVA and part of the retirees golf group.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Jennifer Willis, of Ironton, and Mark Willis of california; and four grandsons, Cole, Clay, Chase and Carson Willis, all of Ironton.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at at Central Christian Church in Ironton with minister Glen Wheeler and Jim Willianms officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by V.F.W 8850. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home. An Eastern Star service will be 6:30 p.m. today.
