Cleveland Browns backup quarterback Brady Quinn thinks Republican presidential candidate John McCain is second to no one.

The former Notre Dame star introduced McCain on Wednesday at a campaign stop in suburban Cleveland.

Quinn told a cheering crowd that McCain is a role model for the nation who never quit when he was a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

‘‘He kept fighting what he believed in. He kept fighting for freedom, and he keeps fighting for what America stands for,’’ Quinn said.

McCain thanked Quinn and Browns offensive tackle Joe Thomas, who was also at the event.
