CHESAPEAKE — Good wasn’t good enough.

Allison Chapman pitched a good game, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the pitching of Kari McFann as the River Valley Lady Raiders blanked the Chesapeake Lady Panthers 3-2 Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Both Chapman and McFann struck out 10 batters and walked two. McFann gave up three hits and Chapman five, three for doubles.

“Chapman pitched well enough to win, but we just couldn’t get any hits off their pitcher. (McFann) did a nice job,” said Lady Panthers coach Aaron Rice.

River Valley (8-11, 5-5) got two runs in the third inning when Kirsten Carter doubled, Holly Taylor singled, and Stephanie Griffith doubled home both runners.

Taylor singled, moved up on a fielder’s choice and scored on McFann’s double as the Lady Raiders added an insurance run in the fifth inning.

Chesapeake (13-6, 7-2) plays at 5 p.m. Tuesday at South Point in a game to decide the league title.
