Dragons blank River Valley

CHESHIRE — The Fairland Dragons made out a list of needs and stuck to it.
Tyler Godby, who went three innings for the win, Robbie Easterling and Nate Burcham combined on a one-hitter and the offense had 10 hits as the Fairland Dragons blanked the River Valley Raiders 10-0 Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
“We got what we needed. We got good pitching and we got some good hitting,” said Fairland coach Roger Snyder.
Fairland (7-1, 4-1) got two runs in the first inning when Zac Jordan walked, stole second, and scored on a double by Zack Matasich. Easterling singled home the second run.
The lead went to 5-0 in the second inning.
Ethan Long singled Chris Ward reached on an error, and Burcham hit into a force play. Chad Fisher reached on an error to load the bases.
Jordan singled home one run and a throwing error scored Burcham and Fisher.
The Dragons got two runs in the third.
Tyler Thackston singled and Godby doubled to start the rally. Thackston scored on an error and Godby came home on a fielder’s choice.
A run scored in the fourth when Jordan walked, stole second and Easterling singled.
The final two runs scored in the fifth as Godby and Long singled and Adam Berry had a two-run double.
Eric Caldwell had the only hit for River Valley (0-8, 0-5) with a second inning single.
