HANGING ROCK—It’s back by popular demand.
The Hanging Rock ATV Club is having its second
ATV rally in the village and at the Hanging Rock Off-Road Vehicle Trails.
The club sponsored its first rally in April. ATV enthusiasts elated by the success of the first event, started right away planning the second one.
“We’re really anticipating a bigger turnout,” member Jerry Gammon said. “Last time we had 200 four-wheelers sitting there at one time. I see it getting bigger and more people coming.”
Again this year, the welcome center will be near the intersection of State Route 650 and U.S. 52.
Friday evening’s activities will begin at 5 p.m. with registration, followed by a “Hoot Owl Ride” at 8 p.m.
Then on Saturday, four-wheel riders are invited to try their hand at a GPA hunt.
“We’ll give people the coordinates and then they have to go to the coordinates and tell us what’s there,” Gammon explained. “They’ll mark it on a sheet and who ever gets them all right wins.”
There will also be a poker run through Hanging Rock and Wayne National Forest, followed by Karaoke and music from 5-9 p.m. and another “Hoot Owl Ride” at 8 p.m.
At noon Sunday, there will be an ATV parade into Ironton and back and a drawing for door prizes.
The cost is $30 for a single pass and $50 for family of up to four ATVs.
Camping is available at the Laidback Bar & Grill, and at Wayne National Forest.
There will be a raffle for a 50 CC motorcycle donated by The Pit Stop Power Sports in Hanging Rock.
Freedom Outdoor sales in Wheelersburg will have a tent set up during the weekend, as will Friends of Ironton and Aflac.
