Ironton authorities are looking into the cause of a fire Sunday night at the city mulch dump near Moulton Field.

Ironton Fire Capt. Mike Mahlmeister said the blaze, that was reported at approximately 7:30 p.m., is believed to have been deliberately set.

“We are in the process of investigating this with the state fire marshal’s office and the police department,” Mahlmeister said. “We have a couple of leads we are working on.”

One person was questioned about the fire but was taken from South East Ohio Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital.

Upper Township and Coal Grove fire departments assisted with the fire. Crews remained on the scene until approximately 11:30 p.m.
