PEDRO — If the formula works, don’t change the ingredients.
The Rock Hill Redwomen used good defense and teamwork for another win as they beat the South Point Lady Pointers 6-1 Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
“It was the same thing. We used teamwork and our outfield made some good catches,” Rock Hill coach Mary Harper said. “We had good contact at the plate. We had only one strikeout, so we really put the bat on the ball.”
Bobbi Harper got the win as she struck out nine, walked one and gave up only four hits for the Redwomen (5-0, 2-0).
South Point went up 1-0 in the top of the first inning.
Ericka Leighty singled, moved up on a ground out and came home on hit by Tausha Collins.
But Rock Hill answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning.
Jazel DeAutremont singled, Bobbi Harper doubled and Shelli Harper hit a sacrifice fly. Candice Chaffins singled, stole second, and Brooke Skinner beat out an infield hit to score Bobbi Harper. A throwing error scored Chaffins.
The lead went to 5-1 in the third inning.
Bobbi Harper, Shelli Harper and Chaffins all singled for two runs.
The final run scored in the sixth when Settle doubled and DeAutremeont singled.
South Point is 2-4 and 1-1.
