AID — They’re back in the saddle.

The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings got back on the winning track with a Southern Ohio Conference sweep of the Western Lady Indians Friday, 11-1 and 10-0.

“We needed a couple of wins to get back on track. We’re playing better,” Lady Vikings coach Jeff “Odie” Estep said.

In the first game, Symmes Valley got a run in the first inning and opened the game up with four runs in each the third and fourth innings.

Emily Bowling cleared the bases with a double in the third inning as the Lady Vikings went up 5-0.

In the fourth inning, Hailey Pelletier belted a two-run double to highlight a four-run rally and the lead grew to 9-0.

Libby Ash got the win in the first game as she struck out seven, walked one and allowed just one hit.

Symmes Valley won the second game 10-0 in five innings on a two-hitter by Erica Corn. She struck out 11 and did not issue a walk.

Natasha Pointer walked, stole second and came home on a hit by Courtney Nelson to give the Lady Vikings a 1-0 lead in the second inning.

The Lady Vikings erupted for nine runs in the third inning.

Kayla Justice singled, Chelsea Wall reached on an error and Bowling had a two-run double.

Eric Corn walked and Pointers doubled home both runners. Megan Nance singled and Sarah Ashworth walked to load the bases and Nelson singled in a run.

Wall followed with a two-out triple to empty the bases. Bowling capped the rally with an RBI single.

Symmes Valley (4-6, 4-2) hosts Green Monday.
