Humphrey voted to C-USA third team

IRVING, Texas — Markel Humphrey is starting to make a habit of getting postseason C-USA honors.
After being named to the Conference USA All-Freshman team last season, the Marshall Thundering Herd sophomore stepped up and was voted to the C-USA third team Monday.
Humphrey led the Herd in scoring at 14.1 points per game and in rebounding with a 6.5 average. His scoring total was 11th in the league and his rebounding numbers were fourth.
Humphrey had five 20-plus scoring games and three double-doubles this season for Marshall (12-18, 7-9).
No. 6-ranked Memphis, unbeaten in the conference, landed two players on the first team, 6-foot-9 junior Joey Dorsey and 6-5 sophomore Chris Douglas-Roberts.
The Tigers had 6-5 senior Jeremy Hunt on the second team.
Dorsey led the league in rebounding (9.5) and was second in blocked shots 92.5). Douglas-Roberts averaged 15.3 points per game.
Morris Almond of Rice led the league with a 26.6 scoring average — he is third in the nation — to lead the first team voting. He holds the C-USA single season scoring record with 772 points.
Paul Delaney of Alabama-Birmingham and Robert McKiver of Houston rounded out the first team. Delaney if fifth in the league in scoring at 15.7 and McKiver is second at 19.1 and he also leads the league in 3-point shooting with 3.6 per game.
