Eastern pulls away from Bobcats

BEAVER — So far, the Green Bobcats season has been like a rollercoaster.
The Bobcats play has been up and down throughout the course of a game and Friday was no exception as the Beaver Eastern Eagles put together a strong second half to post a 71-54 Southern Ohio Conference win.
“We played well the first half, but we let down defensively in the second half. And we just couldn’t get anything to fall,” Green coach Dave Hopper said.
“We’re beating ourselves right now. We’re 0-4, but no one is beating up on us. We just need to make a few more shots and cut down on our turnovers.”
Green (0-4, 0-1) had 16 turnovers in the first half but only seven in the second half. Another problem area for Green was rebounding. Eastern grabbed 12 offensive rebounds in the first half.
Eastern (2-3, 2-0) took a 16-11 first quarter lead only to have Green get within 28-25 at the break.
A.J. Osborne had 8 points for Eastern in the third quarter to help offset 10 by Ian Kelley as the Eagles built a 49-42 lead.
John Slone came back to net 8 points in the fourth quarter as Eastern began to pull away.
Kelley led Green with 19 points. Randy Ratcliff had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Eastern was led by Osborne with 18 points, Slone had 17 and Brian Osborne added 13.
