CHESHIRE — It’s kind of like a good Christmas morning. The Rock Hill Redwomen got what they wanted.
The Redwomen went on the road and remained unbeaten in the Ohio Valley Conference as they beat the River Valley Lady Raiders 52-43 Thursday.
“We achieved our objective. We got out of there with a ‘W,’ so we’re happy with that,” Rock Hill coach Matt Fulks said.
“We got pretty good balance from our big three and from Kayla Skaggs. We played well in a tough environment.”
Brooke Long led the Redwomen with 20 points. Bobbi Harper had 13 points, Anna Bridges scored 10 and Kayla Skaggs added 8, all in the fourth quarter.
“We had a real good game out of Brooke Long, and not just with scoring. She had four or five assists that were real good passes to Anna,” Fulks said.
“Bobbi played well and we did a lot better job on the boards and not giving up the second shots.”
Courtney Circle had 13 points for River Valley (1-8, 0-3).
The game was tied 12-12 at the end of the first quarter before Long scored 10 of her pints in the second quarter to put Rock Hill up 24-18 at the break.
The lead was 39-31 after three quarters, but the Raiders got within 44-40 with three minutes to play.
Skaggs got a big putback, was fouled and made the free throw to open up a 47-40 lead.
The Redwomen outscored River Valley 8-3 over the final minute to come away with the win.
