Woman charged for shooting death of husband to death

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP— A former Lawrence County woman was scheduled to appear today in Ironton Municipal Court for arraignment on a murder charge.
Megan Goff, 26, formerly of Hamilton Township but who listed current addresses in both Worthington, Ky., and Hartford, W.Va., was arrested late Saturday and charged in connection with the death of her estranged husband, William “Bill” Goff, 51, of Hamilton Township.
Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Goff residence on County Road 1A just after 7 p.m. They found the body of Bill Goff inside the residence. He was pronounced dead by a member of the Lawrence County Coroner’s Office.
“It was certainly domestic related,” Lawrence County Sheriff Timothy Sexton said.
“Two handguns were recovered from the scene. Mr. Goff had been shot multiple times.”
Bill Goff’s body has been sent to the Franklin County Cororner’s Office for an autopsy.
According to a prepared statement from the sheriff’s office, Megan Goff, who had not been living at the Hamilton Township residence, but allegedly went to the residence shortly before the shooting. She was taken to the Lawrence County jail.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Goff residence in January to investigate a domestic dispute.
At that time, Bill Goff was charged with domestic violence and taken to jail. Megan Goff was granted a civil protection order. That case was pending in municipal court at the time of the shooting.
Bill Goff was assistant chief of the Hamilton Township Volunteer Fire Department.
