Road will be closed for repairs today

The Cold Spot side of Crabtree Hollow in Perry Township will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today

so that crews can repair the road.

The road will reopen to the public on Monday at 4 p.m.

Ironton native to graduate from JHU

An Ironton High School alumni is ready to graduate from Johns Hopkins University with several achievements.

During his stay at Johns Hopkins, Hugh Donald Scott has participated in several programs, including the Multicultural Student Affairs Summer Programs, the Johns Hopkins University Center for Social Concern, Teach Baltimore Program, transportation committee and the Black Student Union Community Service Committee.

He is working as peer director in the JHU Career Center and is volunteering as a counselor for at-risk youth at the Family Tree Children’s Anonymous Program. He is the current president of the JHU Gospel Choir and president of his fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha, Sigma Sigma chapter.

Scott also has received several awards including: 2006 Student Employee of the Year, 2006 Maryland Student Employee of the Year.

He also received the following awards at the Leadership Award Ceremony: Student Council award, Student Excellence Award for Leadership and Service, the Greek Life Award — Senior Leadership and Campus Involvement Award for Alpha Phi Alpha, the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs Award and the Dean of Student Life Award — the Dean of Student Life Achievement Award.

He will graduate May 25 with a bachelor’s degree in public health — natural sciences.
