SOUTH POINT — Jeremiah Taylor knows how to catch his teammates’ eyes.
Taylor was the focus of his team’s passing as he scored 27 points in the South Point Pointers 62-44 win over the River Valley Raiders Tuesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
“(Taylor) was pretty active and when he gets under way, the others look for him,” Pointers coach Gary Norris said.
Taylor caught his teammates’ eyes as evident by their 20 assists. Chase McWhorter led with six assists, Heath Bridges and Kyle Hughes had four and J.T. Terry handed out three.
Taylor was 12 of 15 from the field as he scored his 27 points. He also had eight rebounds.
McWhorter had a solid all-around game with 14 points and eight rebounds to go with his assists. Jerrell Dean also had eight rebounds.
Bryan Morrow scored 12 points for River Valley (4-6, 1-3).
South Point dominated the game from the start. Taylor had five points as they took a 17-6 lead in the first quarter.
Taylor scored eight more points in the second quarter as the lead grew to 31-17 at the half.
Taylor scored 12 points in the second half as the Pointers won going away.
“We were pretty consistent. Still made some mistakes, but we’re getting better,” said Norris.
South Point (5-4) plays at Fairland Friday in a battle for second place in the league. Both teams are 3-1 in the OVC.
