PEDRO — The offense was back.

After struggling with 21 and 28 points in their last two games, the Rock Hill Redwomen got their offense in gear with a 62-53 win Thursday over the Fairland Lady Dragons in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“We shot the ball as well as we have the past two years,” Rock Hill coach Matt Fulks said as his team placed five players in double figures. “It’s a confidence thing.”

Bobbi Harper and Michelle Pancake scored 11 points each to lead the balanced offense. Mandi McKenzie, Kelsey Harris and Brooke Long had 10 points each.

Fulks gave a lot of credit for the win to seniors McKenzie, Harris and Brittany Ross.

“We have three seniors whp have been in the program and tonight they stepped up and played real well,” Fulks said.

Fairland (7-6, 5-3) was led by Brianna Davis with 29 points.

“Davis got a lot of points, but we kept the others from scoring. We told the girls that we couldn’t let the other girls beat us,” Fulks said.

Ross had six points in the first quarter as Rock Hill took a 12-10 lead.

Long and Pancake had six points each and McKenzie four in the second quarter as Rock Hill extended its lead to 33-18.

With Harper scoring seven points, the Redwomen led by as many as 20 points in the third quarter before Fairland closed to within 50-37.

Davis scored all 19 of Fairland’s points in the quarter.

“Davis is one of the top three players in the league. She’s going to get her points. We did a good job the first half but we lost her in the second half a few times,” Fulks said.

The Redwomen were 10 of 14 from the foul line in the fourth quarter as Fairland was forced to foul.

“Kelsey stepped up with her shots. Michelle Pancake took the ball to the basket strong and rebounded well,” Fulks said.
