PEDRO — Maybe the Rock Hill Redmen aren’t running on all eight cylinders, but seven of them sound pretty good.
Rock Hill kept on running with its offense and defense in a 14-5 win over the Porstmouth Notre Dame Titans Thursday.
“Overall, we played well. We just have to fine-tune some things we did well,” Redmen coach Barry Litteral said.
“We didn’t pitch too bad. We have to be a little more consistent. But we’ve had only one error in two games. I’ll take that.”
Rock Hill scored five runs in each of the first two innings with the held of the long ball.
In the first inning, T.J. Blagg and K.C. Christian walked and Michael Williams hit a long three-run homer.
Josh Moore singled and Carl Blankenship followed with a two-run blast.
In the second inning, Nick Howard singled, Williams was safe on a two-out error, Moore had an RBI single, Blankenship walked and J.C. Murnahan had a two-run single. An error scored Blankenship and it was 10-0.
The Titans got a five runs in the third inning to cut the deficit in half at 10-5, but the Redmen answered with four runs in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach.
Murnahan hit a home run to start the uprising. Josh Guy singled and then Howard, Blagg and Christian all walked to force in a run. Williams capped the rally with a two-run single.
Murnahan was 3-4 with his home run. Williams and Moore each went 2-4.
