A wedding? No, it was the plan that helped the Symmes Valley Vikings beat the New Boston Lady Tigers 53-43 Thursday in a Southern Oho Conference game.

&#8220We kept our defense but we put in a new offense that I borrowed from the Ohio State basketball camp,” Lady Vikings coach Lisa Bryant said.

Tiffany Bryant had 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Lady Vikings.

Rebecca Capper had 10 points, six rebounds and three assists while Megan Coomes grabbed 12 rebounds for the Lady Vikings.

New Boston was led by Jessica Waugh with 18 points and Kayla Riley scored 12.

&#8220It wasn't one of our better outings offensively, but I'm proud of the girls. They hung in there and played hard. New Boston is much improved,” coach Bryant said.

Symmes Valley took a 9-6 lead after the first quarter and led 18-13 at the half.

Riley scored 8 points in the third quarter, but Kristen Capper had 5 points, Emily Bowling 4 and Coomes 3 as the Lady Vikings went up 36-30.

Symmes Valley then converted 9 of 15 free throws in the fourth quarter including Saunders going 3 of 4, Bowling 3 of 6 and Bryant 2 of 2.

The Lady Vikings are 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the SOC. New Boston fell to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the SOC.
